A workshop for parents and care givers who have children using, struggling with or showing interest in social networking sites or other online activities. For most, particularly those with teenagers now, are completely aware that their kids know much more about 'all that techie stuff' than they do.
But the reality is the 'virtual playground' as it is at the moment is completely unpatrolled to a large extent, it's often been referred to as a "wild west". As parents there are some rules of "best practice" which we will explore, including topics such as 'being your child's facebook friend'. However like most topics concerning the approaches to raising a family, there is clearly no one answer to how a parent 'should or shouldn't behave'. In fact in terms of how to manage or navigate much of the issues and problems encountered in the world of social media as a whole are largely undefined, yet as parents, this concerning fact is the burden of this remains on the victims at present. Kids are the most at risk for attack in these contexts due to the very nature of our school systems, online worlds and social structures
